Pelvic Pain

Chronic pelvic pain – including pain during periods and sexual intercourse – is experienced by millions of women.  If left untreated, it can have an adverse affect on both the personal and professional life of a woman.  Finding lasting relief from chronic pelvic pain can often be a frustrating experience.  In some cases, women may seek help from numerous sources without experiencing success; in others, they assume they must live with the pain.

Part of the puzzle can be the fact that the pain may be caused by multisystem, overlapping problems.  Some of those problems and conditions are included in the overview of Medical Conditions provided in our website.  Other conditions could include interstitial cystitis, bowel problems eg, IBS and connective tissue diseases, eg, fibromyalgia.  To provide effective pain relief, each one of the factors must be discovered and treated individually.

In many cases, diagnosis and treatment with minimally invasive laparascopic surgery can be successful in alleviating the conditions that are the cause of pelvic pain.
